Biography
Widely considered the greatest writer in the English language, William Shakespeare (1564-1616) is often referred to as simply The Bard. Beginning his career in the theatre as an actor and writer in London, the poet and playwright composed 38 plays — including Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Othello, and Macbeth — 154 sonnets, and several epic poems.
